Jose B. Falck-Zepeda in April 2023 “Socio-economic assessments and regulatory dossiers” at the made at the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Global Biotech Potato Partnership, at Michigan State University, April 27, 2023. Objective was to sensitize the partners about the importance and issues related to socioeconomic assessment and potential compliance in regulatory dossiers in potential target countries.
Jose Falck-Zepeda delivered the presentation “Economic benefits from bacterial resistant bananas and drought tolerance maize in Tanzania and Uganda" at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) sponsored Webinar on Biotechnology, January 17, 2023 directed to Kenya Plant Health Inspection Service (KEPHIS) participants. This presentation was the results of a request from KEPHIS to CFIA to understand the Canadian regulatory system and the socioeconomic issues and potential impact assessments examples in Africa.
José B. Falck-Zepeda delivered a 4 day training course on socioeconomic impact assessment methods and related governance and regulatory issues to CIP economists working with the Late Blight Resistant (LBR) Potato project in Nairobi, Kenya. The LBR project was funded by USAID through CIP and Michigan State University.
